CH Schwimmer | Restorations

" The Schwimmwagen a very late modell according to its number, was bought by its last owner in France in 1962. He sometimes used it in the lake of Geneva ( now it is forbidden for pollution controls ) and stored it since about 1975. The car was in rather sound condition but needed restoration: Once the car must have suffered of an accident at the rear left hand side as the body has been professionally welded on many places near the rear wheel. The whole body panel above the engine was not original to the car, but the boot was an original item.

" Otherwise it was in rather sound condition, complete and had only supperficial rust and no filler. The engine was not original to the car; it is a VW engine of about 1954 ( the car with imported into Switzerland in 1963 without engine ). But all transmissions and propeller were there and look complete and in sound condition. Exhaust, wheels and tyres are obviously not the genuine ones. "

" The car was last used about 20 years ago. Driver's and passenger's seats were original to the car. Some instruments of the dashboard were missing. Hood frame is original. Windscreen- glass is missing. But original headlamps are rear lamp are with the car. "

The restoration began in the year 2003.
