1946 Schwimmer | Restorations

Many thanks to the owner and restorer for sharing this restoration story.

"the pics i sent to bart are just some of all the restoration work ive been doing . although ive many more im trying not to overload bart with to many pics to post on the forum. i have made a new dash rail and steering wheel pod and one corner gusset. the gusset on the n/s of the dash rail is the original with its c/no. this needed repair but im glad to say was useable and has been welded to the dash rail. at presant the dash rail is ready to weld in . but not before the position for the jack over centre clip has been marked. and welded to the body side rail. inbetween the gusset with c/no. i will post more pics to bart when ive alittle more done in this area. "

"here you can see that both axle cones have had to be repaired . both cones have been painted in red oxide primer before more repairs will be carried out. the tub will go to the sandblasters when it is finished, but. while the repairs are ongoing the tub will be getting all the repaired areas finished with red oxide. this is to ensure that the dreaded rust wont set back into my new metal. also some of the areas that have been repaired will not see the light of day again. as they will be covered by other panels. just to fill you in with where i am at the moment. im currently making the offside wing. from front to back. ie; complete wing. as i dont have a press to bump these out with. it is all made by hand. when my new wing is finished in next day or so. il post it here for you all to see. but i intend to keep to the plan of photos from where i started and keep posting them to bart "
